Varroa Easy Check
The Varroa EasyCheck is a simple, accurate tool for testing colonies for varroa mites using an alcohol wash method — it lets you assess mite levels and make management decisions right in the bee yard, in minutes rather than days.
Key Features
- Uses the alcohol wash method for reliable mite counts
- Strainer basket has built-in measurement lines for 200 or 300 bee samples
- Mites separate easily through the strainer for quick counting
- Alcohol can be strained and reused between tests
- Compact and portable — fits easily into a toolbox
- Includes instructions and tips for consistent results
How It Works
Collect a sample of young bees from the hive and combine them with rubbing alcohol or windshield washer fluid in the EasyCheck. Shake to wash adult varroa mites off the bees — dislodged mites fall through the strainer basket's small holes into the reservoir below, where they're easy to count. The threaded lid prevents leaks during shaking, and the transparent container makes counting simple. After each test, the liquid can be filtered and reused for the next hive.
