98.6% average effectiveness against varroa mites — that's the number from independent US and international trial data, and it's why VarroxSan has become one of our best-selling mite treatments. It's a natural oxalic acid strip that keeps working for 42–56 days after you place it, without you touching the hive again until it's time to pull the strips.

VarroxSan works whether your mite levels are already low (spring/fall maintenance) or spiking (summer knockdown) — the slow-release strip adjusts to how bees interact with it rather than requiring you to guess the right moment.

Pack Options

  • 20 pack — treats 5–10 colonies
  • 60 pack — treats 15–30 colonies
  • 600 pack — 10 packs of the 60-pack, for larger operations

Update: We are now able to ship this product to California.

Why Beekeepers Choose VarroxSan

  • 98.6% Average Efficacy: Verified through independent trials, when used according to the label.
  • Works With Honey Supers On: No need to pull supers first — studies show no significant oxalic acid increase in honey.
  • No Temperature Restrictions: Effective year-round, unlike treatments that need a specific temperature window.
  • Set It and Forget It: 42–56 days of consistent release — no repeat applications mid-treatment.
  • Bee-Friendly: Safe for bees, brood, and queens throughout the year.
  • Organic-Compatible: Suitable for organic beekeeping practices.
  • No Known Resistance: Unlike some synthetic treatments, mites haven't developed resistance to oxalic acid.

How to Apply It

Use up to 4 strips per brood chamber, placed between brood frames so bees walk on them directly. Leave in place 42–56 days, then remove — don't exceed 56 days. If bees aren't in contact with the strips after 42 days, reposition closer to the cluster.

For double brood boxes: 4 strips in the lower chamber, up to 2 more in the upper chamber if it's full of bees. For medium-frame brood chambers, use half the dose — two medium boxes stacked count as one deep box.

Detailed Description

VarroxSan is made from oxalic acid dihydrate (18.42%) in slow-release fiberboard strips. It works best in summer and fall, though it can be used year-round under the right conditions. The slow-release format reduces the need for repeated treatments — well suited for low honey flow periods when you don't want to keep opening the hive.

Storage & Shelf Life

  • Store below 86°F (30°C), out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Shelf life: 24 months from manufacture date.

Quick Answers

  • Can I use it during honey production? Yes — approved for use with supers on.
  • Can I feed my colonies while treating? Yes — feeding actually helps bees distribute the oxalic acid.
  • What if bees remove the strips early? That can happen from hygienic behavior — check mite counts to confirm the treatment worked.
  • Screened bottom boards? Fine to use — close the mesh or use a collecting tray during treatment.
