Feeding syrup by the quart works fine until you're doing it every few days. These deep frame feeders replace 1 or 2 standard deep frames and hold 1 or 1.5 gallons of syrup, so you can fill once and go longer between refills. A cap and ladder system lets bees climb down for syrup and back out safely, cutting down on drowning — also known as division board feeders, though most beekeepers just call them frame feeders.

Key Features

  • Two size options: 1-gallon (replaces 1 frame) or 1.5-gallon (replaces 2 frames)
  • Tube-style cap and ladder lets bees access syrup only through the ladder, minimizing drowning risk
  • Ribbed inner walls provide traction if used without the cap and ladder system
  • Black polypropylene construction resists bowing or bending over time
  • 4-piece design snaps together in about 30 seconds, and disassembles fully for cleaning
  • Made in the USA

How to Use It

Insert the feeder into your deep box or super in place of one or two standard deep frames — commonly the second box up from the bottom, positioned on the side above the brood nest. Fill through the top cap with sugar syrup. Bees climb down the ladder to reach the syrup and back out safely.

Clean regularly: remove the cap and ladder, rinse thoroughly with warm water, and let everything dry fully before refilling. Leftover syrup residue can ferment if the feeder isn't dried between fills.
